The perilousness of the shinobi world in the Naruto anime is bound to cause many health conditions in those who participate. Whether suffering physical trauma or mental illness, some of the warriors afflicted would become defined by their maladies. Conversely, few characters with significant debilitations would actually die directly because of them. Many would instead fall in battle, whether of their own volition or against a superior opponent. Through assessing the ways they perished and comparing it with their afflictions, we can determine how their failing health had impacted their ultimate demise - if it played a role at all.
